FAQ's

1) Do you charge for measure & quotes?

Of course not, all of our quotes are no obligation free measure & quotes. We offer this in the metropolitan area and always provide friendly service. If you live in regional areas, please call us with your enquiry as we may be able to offer you a 'supply only' option.

2) Do you give blind quotes over the phone?

If you have the size of your window, we can give you an estimate over the phone. It is however always best to have one of our consultants come to your home. Whilst we're measuring, you can peruse our fabric and colour selections and we can offer recommendations there and then. This way you will have a better understanding of the different costs associated to different products as well as have our experience of what will best suit your living space.

3) What areas do you service within Adelaide?

Predominantly we service the Northern, Western and Eastern Adelaide metropolitan areas.

4) Are your blinds expensive?

We are not budget, and we are not the most expensive. We provide high quality custom made blinds at competitive prices. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of our products, versus price especially compared to the majority of other Adelaide blind companies.

5) How long does the process take from the moment I order my blinds?

We manufacture most of our window treatments, so the lead time is usually no more then 2 to 3 weeks. We have been known to turn things around quicker depending on the season and the urgency.

6)Where do your blinds and awnings come from?

We manufacture the majority of our window treatments at our Para hills Factory in Adelaide's North. We use  componentry made to Australian standards. We use a variety of fabrics for our blinds, some are manufactured here in Australia but most are imported. Those that are imported are manufactured to Australian standards.

7) Do you use Australian materials?

As we are Australian blind manufacturers, we aim to support the Australian manufacturers as much and as often as we can. We use a variety of fabrics in our blinds, including Australian made. The customer ultimately selects the fabric but is always presented with all of the options.

8) Do you provide ready made blinds?

No, all of our blinds are custom made to measure using your exact measurements.

9) What Warranty do you offer on your blinds, awnings, and shutter products?

All of our window treatments come with a 2 year installation warranty. If any issues arise during this time they would be covered. Depending on the product, some of our suppliers have a 5 year warranty on fabric and up to a 10 year warranty on componentry.

10) Which system is better; ZIptrak Blinds, Zipscreen Blinds or Slidetrack?

We're often asked this and confidently recommend (and install) the Zipscreen blinds system.  In the past, we have manufactured the Ziptrak blinds system but have found that the money that Acmeda invests on research and development has transformed  the Zipscreen Blinds System into a smoother, quieter and more aesthetically pleasing  shade solution. It is perfect for Alfresco areas and even on windows as an alternative to Roller Shutters.

11) Are Blinds expensive?

The general answer is no... or they can be. There is obviously a range of factors that influence the price. Notably the choice of blind, the style, the fabric and your window openings individual measurements but overall, they are a great, economical way to really improve on a rooms ambiance and feel. We can guide you on what will look best and accommodate most realistic budgets.

12) Which blinds are best for bathrooms?

Roller blinds and Vertical blinds that use a fabric which provides a mould and mildew protection will best suit the rooms with wet areas.

13) Which blinds are best for patio doors?

Vertical Blinds are still the most cost effective over large window areas but panel glides are available in some great designer fabrics & look fantastic.

14) Which Blinds are best for sliding doors?

Vertical Blinds are easily the most versatile as they allow you to;

  1. partly open the blind in order to enter/exit the room.
  2. cover large window openings, cost effectively.
  3. control the amount of light you want to enter the room by adjusting the blind slats to your mood.

15) Which blinds are best for bedrooms?

Roller Blinds with a block-out fabric. They are quick and easy to open and close and highly effective at blocking light entering the room for those wanting to sleep in! They are a durable, highly practical, blind that come in a virtually  endless array of colours to suit your bedroom decor.

16) Which Blinds keep the heat out?

A combination of Roller Shutters or awnings on the outside of your home and Roller Blinds on the inside is the most effective method of keeping heat from penetrating your home and reducing your cooling electricity bills during Adelaide's hot summer.

17) Which blinds keep heat in?

The same combination as mentioned above.

18) Which Blinds are the most energy efficient?

Cellular Blinds are said to be the most Energy Efficient as they trap air inside them with helps insulate your home in Winter or Summer.

19) Which blinds let the most light in?

Roller Blinds, when fully lifted, will allow the most light to enter a room.

20) Which Blinds are the easiest to clean?

Vertical blinds are probably the simplest and depending on the fabric, can simply be cleaned with a lint roller or a vacuum with the dust brush attachment. This can be done obviously when the blinds are closed.

21) When should I choose curtains over blinds?

Curtains, especially, sheer curtains can give any room a softer look. Blockout curtains are great insulators and can help reduce noise so would suit homes in cooler areas or for rooms on the front of your home that are exposed to road noise.

22) Blinds versus Plantation shutters?

Plantation Shutters look fantastic but are a very expensive option as a window treatment compared to most blinds due to the materials and fabrication process. They do however add value to your home and are a solid investment into your home decor. Nowadays, they come in a range of sliding, hinged and bi-fold opening options.

23) Do you repair blinds and awnings?

Depending on the state of the blind, it is sometimes just as expensive to repair than to supply you with a new one.  We regularly repair awnings by replacing the old canvas with a new one as quite often the structure and framework are still very solid.
